Apple Watch: How to Find the Right Size For Your Wrist

Comfort always comes first when buying something wearable. It is no different when purchasing an Apple Watch. Compared to other devices, there are certain things to look out for when getting one. Aside from the specifications, additional consideration of the size must be taken. This will guarantee utmost satisfaction and give you value for money.

Fitness trackers work better when worn correctly. One way to make sure that it will perform well is by having the right size for your wrist. To help you find the size that suits you best, here are some things you need to know.

What are the Available Sizes?

Currently, there are three models for Apple Watch. They are Series 3, SE, and Series 6. It usually has 2 case sizes for each model. Although, the Series 3 has smaller sizes. It comes in 38mm and 42 mm. While for the SE and Series 6, you can have it in 40mm or 44mm. Smartwatches for women are usually the smaller ones regardless of the model.

On the other hand, most band types are adjustable. Regular band size fits 130-200mm wrists. Some band types may have size options. You can choose from S/M and M/L. For band types made of silicone, there are nine sizes available.

How to Measure your Wrist

There are three ways to measure the circumference of your wrist. This will help you determine the band size to choose when buying an Apple Watch or if you want a style change.

Measuring Tape

This is the easiest and fastest way to know your band size. Wrap around the measuring tape on your wrist just below the wrist bone. This is the location where you usually wear your smartwatch. Make sure to wrap it tightly. Use sticky tape to keep the other end in place. Please take note of the measurement where it overlaps.

String or Strip of Paper

When using a string or strip of paper, follow the same steps as the measuring tape. However, since it has no indicators, you need to determine it manually. You can mark it off using a pen. Lay it flat on a table and use a ruler to check its length.

Printable Size Guide

Luckily, Apple has provided a printable size guide for you to use. Make sure to print it in the right paper size. You can check if you printed it correctly by placing a credit card or ID on the lower right part of the paper.

The size guide has numbers 1 to 12, which correspond to band sizes. If the arrow points in between the numbers, choose the lower number. It is best to use when buying solo loops. Still, you can use it for other band types.

After measuring your wrist, you can enter the measurement on the Apple website. You can type it in either inches or centimeters. Then, it will help you find the right band size for you.

The Importance of Having the Right Fit

Smartwatches have sensors that need to be in the right place to serve their purpose. When worn loosely, it might affect its accuracy. When worn too tight, it may interrupt the blood flow and cause discomfort. This is why you need to have the best fit.

In addition, the case size and band size should complement your wrist. Whether for aesthetics or functionality, it needs to look good on you. The case size should be accounted for, especially on smartwatches for kids. Larger smartwatches may weigh heavier and make them feel uneasy.

Picking out an Apple Watch may look simple, but it’s crucial. Model, case size, band type, and size must be thought of carefully. There might be slight differences, but those differences may influence your overall experience with the device. If you are still unsure whether it will fit right on you, you can visit the closest Apple store and try them on.
