Dodocase Offering Walnut Apple Watch Charging Stand

By most accounts we are still more than three months away from the Apple Watch hitting the shelves, but that’s not going to stop accessory manufacturers from piggybacking onto what is expected to be far and away the top-selling smartwatch ever.

Seeing all the controversy about how long (or how short) the Apple Watch battery is expected to last on a single charge, maybe it’s appropriate that the first Apple Watch accessory that we’ve seen so far is a charging stand.

Dodocase has released a pretty nice-looking charging stand for the Apple Watch, made from California orchard walnut wood. It’s an interesting design, with a carved relief slot to route the charging wire through. The stand is supposed to allow you to snap the watch into place and lift it off using only one hand.

Image from DodocaseThe company says they will ship the stand in 2015 to coincide with the wearable’s release. And just like the Apple Watch, the price for this charging stand hasn’t been determined yet, with Dodocase saying only that the final pricing will be “between $60-$80”. They are asking customers to pre-order with a $5 deposit, promising that the first 100 customers will receive a special first edition model.

Other features of the stand include “space age” Japanese suction cup material, which grabs the mounting surface for sturdy placement and one-handed lift-off, without leaving adhesive residue. The stand is finished with tanned American leather and a natural linseed oil finish.

Heck, if the Apple Watch is going to spend so much time charging, it might as well look good while it is doing it.
