The Samsung Gear S is a standalone smartwatch powered by Sammy's own Tizen OS. The display is a 2.0" Super AMOLED that curves around the top of the wrist. Like any other smartwatch it can display notifications, alerts, messages and take calls. What sets it apart from other smartwatches on the market is the 3G network support, meaning it can be used anywhere even without a tethered smartphone.
